Dear SBG Members and Friends,

The SBG continues to play an instrumental role in bringing the Singapore community together in Ho Chi Minh City.  Many members and especially new residents in Vietnam feel happy to meet fellow Singaporeans through its events and makan sessions.

The SBG has continued its good work in 2016.  I am pleased to note that its special events such as the annual Chap Goh Mei dinner and the National Day dinner continue to be well-attended.  In addition, the SBG has continued with its business interactions and regular events like Raffles Night.  May I congratulate the Exco for its good work and I look forward to more activities in the coming year.  In particular, I hope that the SBG will continue with its efforts with regard to EdFund, which was established in 2000.  It is indeed an effective and meaningful platform as it has enabled more than 3,000 Vietnamese students to continue their studies from the primary school level up to the undergraduate level.  Singaporeans play an important role in promoting people-to-people ties beyond the traditional political and economic ties that our two countries share and EdFund is an important symbol of our cooperation.

I wish the SBG and its members every success in 2017.  Let us keep the Singapore flag high in HCMC!
